Unified Sports Basketball Game
NBA Cares focuses on partnering with organizations that are heavily involved with either at-risk youth or athletics, or in some cases, both. Some of these organizations include the Boys & Girls Club of America, Hoops for St. Jude, the Special Olympics, and the YMCA. One of the most notable charity events is hosted in partnership with the Special Olympics. Every year, the two organizations work together to put on the NBA Cares Special Olympics Unified Sports Basketball Game. In this event, athletes from the NBA, WNBA, and Special Olympics play against each other to raise proceeds for the Special Olympics. The game was originally a part of the NBA All-Star weekend, but was found to be much more successful as a separate event. The Special Olympics' mission is to unleash the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports.
